Ministry, Not Counseling
A gentle clarification about what Square One offers
A Place for Spiritual Care
Square One is a ministry of presence — a quiet space to breathe, to be heard, and to rest in God’s care.
What I offer is pastoral companionship, not clinical mental‑health treatment.
My role is to sit with you, listen deeply, pray with you if you’d like, and help you notice where God may be moving in your story. This is spiritual care, not therapy.
What Spiritual Care Looks Like
Spiritual care is rooted in:
- Presence — sitting with you without pressure or fixing
- Honest conversation — naming what’s real, without judgment
- Discernment — listening together for God’s voice
- Compassion — meeting you right where you are
- Prayer — offered gently, never assumed
These conversations are pastoral in nature. They’re grounded in faith, Scripture, and the long tradition of spiritual companionship.
What I Don’t Offer
I’m not a licensed counselor or therapist, and I don’t provide:
- mental‑health diagnosis
- clinical treatment
- crisis intervention
- long‑term psychotherapy
- documentation for insurance or employers
If you’re looking for clinical counseling, I’m glad to help you find a therapist who fits your needs.
Why This Matters
Clarity is a form of care.
Naming what I offer — and what I don’t — helps you choose the kind of support that’s right for you.
Some people come to Square One alongside therapy.
Some come after therapy.
Some come because they’re seeking spiritual grounding, not clinical treatment.
Wherever you’re coming from, you’re welcome here.
If You’re Not Sure What You Need
You don’t have to figure that out alone.
We can talk about what you’re carrying and discern together whether spiritual care, counseling, or both would serve you best.
A Gentle Invitation
If you’re longing for a quiet place to talk, pray, or simply be heard, I’m here.
Send a message or schedule a visit, and we’ll begin at Square One.
